About Ross Ding & Acupuncture

Combining traditional Chinese medicine with modern clinical practice to support your health, balance, and wellbeing.

Meet Ross Ding

Hi, I’m Ross, and welcome to my practice.

I come from a family of acupuncturists spanning three generations in China, carrying forward a deep-rooted tradition in acupuncture — the ancient Chinese art of healing.

For over 15 years, I have also taught Tai Chi and Qi Gong in South London, helping individuals improve both physical and mental wellbeing through mindful movement and balance.

My approach is calm, personalised, and centred around treating the whole person — not just the symptoms — to support long-term health and recovery.

Qualifications & Professional Standards

I am a degree-level trained acupuncturist, having completed over three years (3,600+ hours) of professional training at the City College of Acupuncture in London. My training includes comprehensive study of anatomy, physiology, and a strong focus on safety and clinical practice.

I have also completed over 400 hours of supervised clinical training and continue to undertake regular risk assessments and annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to ensure the highest standards of care.

I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), the UK’s leading professional body for traditional acupuncture, accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). I strictly follow their Codes of Professional Conduct and Safe Practice to ensure safe, ethical, and hygienic treatments.

Further Training & Specialisation

Between 2017 and 2018, I completed advanced practical training in acupuncture and Tui Na massage, along with specialist study in abdominal acupuncture in Beijing.

In 2022, I further developed my expertise with advanced fertility acupuncture training in London, based on the innovative system developed by Paul Johnson.

I remain committed to ongoing professional development, regularly attending training courses to refine my skills and provide the most effective care for my patients.

How Does Acupuncture Work?

Acupuncture works by influencing the central nervous system, helping to calm the body’s “fight or flight” response and promote the “rest and digest” state. This supports the body’s natural healing processes.

Research shows that acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins — the body’s natural painkillers — along with neurotransmitters that help regulate mood, digestion, the immune system, and hormones.

These effects make acupuncture an effective complementary treatment for a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, headaches, anxiety, digestive issues, hormonal imbalance, and fertility support.

Acupuncture is used within the NHS and is recommended by NICE for chronic pain and headaches. The World Health Organization (WHO) also recognises its benefits for many conditions.

With thousands of clinical studies and over 2,000 years of practice, acupuncture is a well-established treatment rooted in both research and tradition.

What Can Acupuncture Help With?

The WHO classifies conditions into those where acupuncture is proven effective and those where it has shown potential.
